Covo, in a nutshell

Writing about Covo, or showing it in a talk? Here's what you need. Questions go to the address at the bottom.

Describing Covo

One line

Covo is a free, open source Mac app for local PHP development, and a safe workbench for AI coding agents.

One paragraph

Covo runs WordPress, Laravel and any other PHP project on a Mac, each site on its own PHP version from 5.6 to 8.5, with trusted local HTTPS, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and a mail catcher. It keeps everything in one folder, never touches Homebrew and runs next to MAMP, Valet or Herd. When an AI agent works on a site, Covo saves its files and database first, so the developer can see what changed and keep it or undo it. Covo is licensed under the GPL-3.0 and built by Andrea Casali.

The name

Covo is written with a capital C and lowercase "ovo", in every language. It's Italian for a hideout or lair, which is also why the artwork is a pirate cove. The command is covo.

Logo and artwork

The artwork is pixel art: when you scale it, use nearest-neighbour so the pixels stay sharp. Please don't change the icon's colours or shape. Use of the name and logo is covered by TRADEMARKS.md.
